The Rankins | Hope Chapel & Heritage Gardens Wedding Shelby Twp, MI

I started the Rankin’s wedding day over at BeautyCo, the salon location for the gals behind BridesMaid Beautiful. While the ladies were getting their final touchups done, I grabbed some detail shots of the brides dress and accessories—yesss these were taken right in the salon! I have a way of finding the beauty in unexpected locations ;)

Right as Shania was getting zipped into her gown, the skies turned dark. Luckily we had a backup plan and the AMAZING staff at Telly’s Greenhouse were amazing and welcomed us into their beautiful store! Honestly, it may have been my favorite spot of the day. I loved the vivid floral backdrop against the pale blue and blush colors adorned by the bride and her girls. Luckily It was just a quick few showers and we had sunny skies for the rest of the day!

While I was with the ladies, my second shooter Lynsey was hanging out with the guys capturing some portraits and candids in Heritage Park. I can and do shoot weddings solo quite often, but working with an additional photographer for the day adds so much more! I work with other amazing photographers in the area to ensure that you get the best quality even when I’m not the one taking the images myself. It gives us a chance to be at two places at once for the getting ready portion, and cocktail hour portions of the day, and gives you more points of view/artistic photos when we are together in the same place. Plus, of course more pictures when your gallery is complete! If you are on the fence about adding a second shooter, it is really worth it.

Ok back to the wedding day! The ceremony took place at the Historic Hope Chapel. I’ve been lucky enough to shoot there many times before and still love love love it! It’s such a cute and intimate location to say your “I dos” with just enough room for about 100 of your closest friends and family members. The chapel was filled to the brim, without an empty seat in the building. (Speaking of second shooters, I would not have been able to get that epic kiss shot of the bride and groom if I was working solo that day. Im obsessed with it! A shot with your family and friends in the background is a million times better than an image with your officiant behind you!).

Heritage Gardens did not disappoint as the backdrop for the remaining bridal photos. The rest of the day was filled with dinner, dancing, and an outpouring of love! Thanks guys for trusting me with your special day! I can’t wait to see you all again when we capture your sister’s wedding this fall!
